An inspiration of perseverance

Despite the title, this book is not about the age-old joke of men not asking directions.

Kelly Tyler-Lewis has written the story of the supply team that supported Ernest Shackleton's 1914 expedition across the Antarctic. Known as the Ross Sea party, the supply team was on the opposite side of the continent and were to support Shackleton's group with food and fuel.

The Ross party was to sail aboard the Aurora into the Ross Sea. But the Aurora was torn from its moorings in a storm and washed out to sea, leaving 10 men stranded on the shore.

Two years later, they were finally rescued. This book chronicles the perseverance and how the stranded men chose to risk their lives, marching 1,300 miles to build a lifeline of depots for Shackleton's party.

The Lost Men, a gripping tale of the human spirit, is available today for only $4.30.
