My grandmother was affectionately known for two things: she was a phenom of a cook and a phenom at finding bargains, especially clothes. She made pie crusts with lard and taught us never to pay full price for anything we wear. She hunted the clearance racks, which she called rat racks because she ratted through them for the good stuff.
